Volunteers form the backbone of our services at St Petrock’s – each person makes an invaluable contribution to our work.

We are looking for enthusiastic, team-spirited volunteers with a ‘can–do’ attitude to help with our excting new charity shop & ‘circular fashion hub’, Petrock’s Place.

Working alongside our shop-manager, you will play a key role in engaging with the Exeter community to help increase understanding of homelessness issues in our city. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in a retail environment and make new friends. Volunteers should be able to commit to at least a 3-hour shift per week.

Please see our shop volunteer role description for full details of what’s involved and download an application form.

Volunteers, who should be 18 years+ and able to commit to a weekly 4 hour slot for a minimum of 6 months, assist the kitchen manager in preparing, serving and clearing away cooked breakfasts and lunches.  They may also be asked to help clients with our clothing and shower services.  Please see our kitchen volunteer role description for full details.

Please note that we are operating with a minimal team due to social-distancing, but do have some current vacancies for weekday mornings.

If you are looking for volunteering opportunities out-of-hours, you may also be interested in contacting Bread of Life, (who are looking for volunteers to prepare and serve food in the evenings and at weekends) or Vineyard Church (who are looking for volunteers on Monday evenings).

St Petrock’s receives wonderful support from the Exeter community; we often get invited to take part in local awareness-raising and fundraising events around the city and beyond.  We keep a ‘bank’ of volunteers available to help out at these ad hoc events as required.  Past events have included helping with an outdoor theatre performance, assisting at a concert in the Cathedral, manning a stall at a dog show and serving mince pies at a Christmas fayre!  Volunteering in this area does not involve a regular commitment, but can be a good option for people unavailable during core weekday hours who want to get involved.

Support from local businesses is always hugely appreciated.  Although we have limited space for volunteer teams due to the size of our centre, we do take on additional short-term volunteers (usually to a maximum of 2-3 at a time) at peak times around harvest festival and Christmas to help receive and sort the large number of donations we receive at these times.  If your workplace is interested in his area, please do get in touch.  If we cannot accommodate your team, hosting your own awareness or fundraising event off-site is a great way to get involved – please do talk to us to discuss your ideas!

We also welcome other forms of support and creative ideas.  If you have a particular skill or creative idea that you think may be of help, we’d love to hear from you – please do get in touch
