As we all adapt to the new ‘Covid environment’, St Petrock’s is trialling a new rough sleeper support service to provide more focussed opportunities for individuals to access support.
Due to current physical distancing requirements, it is not possible for us to safely run open-access drop-in services or serve food directly from St Petrock’s centre. However, by making support ‘mobile’, our team aim to engage more meaningfully with people on an individual basis – including those who are ‘hard-to-reach’ or reluctant to access a group environment.
From Monday 21st September, our rough sleeper team will be out and about each weekday morning to engage with people who are rough sleeping around the city. They will be distributing rough sleeper food packs en route (including breakfast and packed lunch prepared by our centre kitchen), talking to individuals about their current needs, and making follow-up appointments to ensure that specific needs are met.
Please be reassured that our full range of other specialist services – including housing assessment, advice and referral, benefits support, access to showers, laundry, clothing, sleeping bags, phones/the internet – will still be available from St Petrock’s centre. However, these will be by appointment only in order to safely limit numbers in and around the centre.

Alongside this new service, our team are continuing to provide ongoing support (including daily breakfast and lunch delivery) to around 32 people who were placed in emergency hotel accommodation in March.
