“Volunteers don’t get paid, not because they’re worthless, but because they’re priceless.”

Sherry Anderson

We currently have two vacancies for trustees with specific skills & experience to help strengthen our governance:

A trustee with significant lived experience of homelessness . We believe this lived experience is essential to enable us to ensure the charity is providing the right services in the right way, and making key decisions informed by those who best understand what it means to be homeless.

A trustee with Registered Provider experience.  We are seeking to recruit at least one additional trustee with extensive experience of working in social housing, including a good understanding of the Regulator’s Regulatory Standards, as we seek to expand the housing options we can offer to people without a home in Exeter.

Please also see our trustee role description here.

We always need reliable regular volunteers, either in our kitchen, our vintage shop or increasingly, to help with our fundraising work.

Volunteers form the backbone of our services at St Petrock’s and each person makes an invaluable contribution to our work.

New role – Stock & Logistics Volunteer

Help keep essential donations moving across the charity!  We are looking for a positive, energetic individual to play a vital role in collecting donated items from St Petrock’s centre, our vintage charity shop and external storage facility, and redistributing them to where they’re needed within St Petrock’s.

A full driving licence, your own vehicle and a good level of physical fitness is essential – please see our full role description for details.

In our shop

We are looking for enthusiastic, team-spirited volunteers with a ‘can–do’ attitude to help with our vintage clothing shop, Petrock’s Place.

Working alongside our shop manager, you will play a key role in engaging with the Exeter community to help increase understanding of homelessness issues in our city. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in a retail environment and make new friends.    Volunteers should be able to commit to at least a three-hour shift per week.

Both customer-facing roles and behind-the-scenes roles are available (and roles that combine both elements.  Please see our shop volunteer role description for full details of what’s involved.

In the kitchen

Our catering manager sometimes needs help with preparing, serving and clearing away cooked breakfasts and lunches, which are distributed by our mobile rough-sleeper team.

We need people who can commit to a regular slot. Volunteers should be over 18 and able to commit to a weekday morning four-hour slot for a minimum of six months.

If you’d like to help, please see the role description

If you have limited regular availability, we also welcome ad hoc help with fundraising events throughout the year.

Thank you so much.
