We have a part-time vacancy for a Prison Accommodation Advisor working at HMP Exeter from May 2106 for 6 months.
The HMP Exeter Prison Accommodation Advice Service assists up to 1200 offenders in housing need per annum, helping to secure sustainable accommodation on release in the South West area. The service supports the government’s Reducing Reoffending Strategy to ensure that offenders have fast access to advice, accommodation and support prior to release from HMP Exeter.
The successful candidate will provide a high quality client-centred contact, assessment and support service, for the effective engagement and resettlement of ex-offenders. This will involve liaison with partners in the Offender Resettlement Service, Exeter and Channings Wood resettlement prisons, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall Community Rehabilitation Company, Local Authorities and Engage Hubs.
Candidates will need a patient and calm professional manner and a fair, non-discriminatory, non-judgemental approach. Proven experience of working with vulnerable adults with a range of immediate and on-going support needs, liaising and co-ordinating work in partnership with external agencies is essential, as is good IT, administration and communication skills.
The post is subject to an Enhanced DBS, HMP Exeter Security checks and receipt of satisfactory references.
