St Petrock’s currently has a vacancy for a relief support worker, who will provide flexible cover within the rough sleeper services in our homelessness resource centre.
We are looking for a calm, confident, pro-active, and non-judgmental relief support worker, who will work as part of a team to oversee and manage the safety of operations within our centre.
The post holder should be able to deliver housing advice and support, needs assessments, and key working activities to St Petrock’s clients who are homeless or vulnerably housed. Applicants will require an understanding of the key causes of homelessness, as well as an understanding of the needs of vulnerable clients with low incomes, including those with mental health or substance dependency.
Previous experience of work in a similar environment is essential.
Suitable candidates must be able to use effective communication and negotiation skills to manage challenging situations and de-escalate conflict. Applicants should have good organisational, problem solving, and interpersonal skills, and should understand the importance of confidentiality and discretion. They should have good risk assessment skills, be able to liaise in a multi-agency context, and be IT literate to take effective case working notes for monitoring outcomes.
Candidates should be adaptable and flexible, and enjoy the variety and challenge of working in a busy centre environment.
This is a relief contract to cover staff leave with no fixed hours. The rate of pay is £10 per hour.
