Early Bird Service starts March 7th

On Monday, we will start trialling an Early Bird rough sleeper service and will be opening the centre an hour earlier, at 8am, to enable rough sleepers access to showers/toilets/laundry and hot drinks before our regular sessions begin.  This Early Bird service will be trialled for 3 months and will run with the help of Julian House's Street Homeless Outreach Team....

Safe Sleep Success

After 3 months of providing a rough sleeper overnight accommodation service, named “Safe Sleep”, we can report that of the 19 rough sleepers who accessed St Petrock's from December 1st to end February, 15 are no longer on the streets, having either accepted offers of accommodation or re-connected to their local area where accommodation is available to them.  Safe Sleep  involved St Petrock's centre re-opening at 6.30pm each evening and enabled up to 10 rough sleepers to come inside, enjoy hot snacks/drinks and a film, before bedding down for the night.  This service was run in co-ordination with BCHA's Gabriel House, the city hostel, which was able to offer a further 15 bed spaces and was funded by Exeter City Council.  ...

Stats to start the New Year

It's always good to start the New Year with positives and our Private Rented Service team and Housing Advice teaming HMP Exeter have certainly set the ball rolling. From April '15, our PRS team accommodated and supported 25 individuals in and around the Exeter area and, 10 months on, 24 are still maintaining their tenancies.  In HMP Exeter, our Housing team managed to find accommodation for 84% of offenders, with sentences under 12 months, prior to release in November and for 83% in December - over achieving their Key Performance Target (KPT) of 80%.  ...
